Sudan as a Country at Risk of Fragmentation

Abstract
As a result of the expansionist policies pursued throughout the nineteenth century, the Sudanese territory was brought together into a single political and administrative unit. However, disconnections among the country's diverse regions generated structural problems. This analysis examines Sudan's current crisis through the conceptual lenses of state fragmentation and territorial power, arguing that the country has reached the threshold of disintegration due to the ongoing hybrid civil war fueled by external interventions.
